Tibetan Medicine, also known as Sowa Rigpa, is an ancient system of healing that has been practiced in Tibet for centuries. It is based on the teachings of the Buddha and incorporates elements of Ayurveda, Chinese medicine, and traditional Tibetan healing practices. The main text of Tibetan Medicine is the Four Tantras (Gyud-shi), which were written by the great physician Yuthok Yonten Gonpo in the 12th century. These texts provide a comprehensive overview of the principles and practices of Tibetan Medicine, including diagnosis, treatment, and prevention.

Rechung Rinpoche was a renowned Tibetan physician who wrote several important texts on Tibetan Medicine. He was born in 1148 CE in Kham, Tibet and studied under Yuthok Yonten Gonpo himself. Rechung Rinpoche wrote several commentaries on the Four Tantras as well as other works such as The Blue Beryl (Me-tog-gi-me) and The White Beryl (Dag-me). These texts provide detailed information about diagnosis, treatment, and prevention from a variety of illnesses. Rechung Rinpoche's works are still widely used today by practitioners of Tibetan Medicine.
